Adventures and Advancements

The completion of adventures is how the scouting goals of character, citizenship, leadership and personal fitness are developed. The program is structured to provide consistent programming nationwide. Here is a breakdown of what you need to know!

Key definitions

AdvancementThe process of meeting certain requirements and earning recognition. This progression moves cub scouts to the next grade level programming.
AdventuresCollections of themed, multidisciplinary activities. There are 6 required adventures and 2 elective adventures required in order to obtain rank.  
DenA group of cub scouts that meet periodically and is part of a Cub Scout pack. Dens are organized by grade (K-5). 
PackThe combination of all dens, including families and leaders, make up the pack.
RankThe acknowledgement of completing the 6 required adventures and 2 electives for the year. Rank is not required to move through the program.
